BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team will play Tyler Junior College in a battle of the top three teams in the nation on Friday night in Texas.

The Titans, who are 3-0 and No. 3 in the NJCAA Division I poll, will travel to Tyler, Texas to play No. 2 Tyler at 8 p.m. Friday night.

“It’s a good opportunity for the girls to go out and play the No. 2 team in the country, see where we are at this point in the season and where we need to be,” Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Scott Carswell said. “There will still be a lot of pressure because it is a big game but won’t be the be-all and end-all that it has been historically.”

The two teams have met in the national tournament four times, but this will be the first time since 2012 they have met during the regular season.

Eastern Florida State College is coming off a 1-0 victory last weekend against LSU-Eunice and have had a good week of practice.

“We are a little rusty after the Panama City trip, we didn’t score a lot of goals against LSU-Eunice but we played well,” Carswell said. “Yesterday we had a really good practice and the mood has been good. The kids are itching to get out there.”

Tyler Junior College is 5-0 on the season and has outscored opponents 18-3 in the five games.

Then on Sunday morning, the Titans will play Jacksonville College who are 3-2-1 on the season and are coming off a couple of tough losses to Tyler Junior College and No. 13 Hill College.

“It will be two quality games, the kids are excited about the trip,” Carswell said.
