OBITUARY: Joe Edward Aycock of Viera Passed Away Sept. 17 at Age of 86

Joe Edward Aycock, formerly of Viera, FL, passed away on September 17th, 2023 at the age of 86. After the Navy he worked for Lockheed Martin at Cape Canaveral, Florida managing test flight operations for the Ballistic Submarine Fleet until 1998.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Joe Edward Aycock, formerly of Viera, FL, passed away on September 17th, 2023 at the age of 86.

Joe was born in Greensboro, North Carolina to Wiley and Minnie Aycock. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy in 1955. While in the Navy, Joe was assigned to Submarine Service and retired in 1980 at the rank of Lt. Commander.

After the Navy he worked for Lockheed Martin at Cape Canaveral, Florida managing test flight operations for the Ballistic Submarine Fleet until 1998. He loved his family, Volksmarch walking, traveling, and cruising.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene of 66 years; his daughter Elizabeth Carellas (Peter) and grandchildren Stephanos, Alexandros, Helena; his son William Aycock (Charis), grandchildren Wyatt, Tyler (Yani), Garrett (Nia), and great-grandchild Lydia; sisters Ann, Marsha, and Betty-Jean; several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters Sally, Lou-Ellen, Mini.

A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 5655 Stadium Pkwy, Melbourne, FL on Saturday October 28, 2023 at 11:00AM. Private interment will take place with full military honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL at a later date.
