UPDATE: All Lanes Now Reopened After Tractor-Trailer Truck Blaze Closes Eastbound State Road 528

UPDATE: The tractor-trailer fire initially shut down all eastbound lanes but they have since reopened.

Florida Highway Troopers Patrol are on the scene of a semi-truck fully engulfed by fire on top of eastbound State Road 528 bridge into Merritt Island. Fire happened in eastbound lanes near mile marker 47 and all eastbound lanes will be closed while fire crews extinguish the fire.

UPDATE: The tractor-trailer fire initially shut down all eastbound lanes but they have since reopened. However, troopers said intermittent lane closures may occur while debris is being removed.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are on the scene of a semi-truck fully engulfed by fire on top of eastbound State Road 528 bridge into Merritt Island.

Fire happened in eastbound lanes near mile marker 47 and all eastbound lanes will be closed while fire crews extinguish the fire.

Rapid Incident Scene Clearance tow trucks have been summoned to remove the semi once the fire is out.

Motorists should consider taking State Road 520 as an alternate.

Authorities did not relaese the cause of the fire and there were no injuries reported.
