Florida Highway Patrol Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash That Happened on I-95 Mims

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are on-scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 11:51 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 in the area of Mile Marker 223 in Mims.
FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi said preliminary evidence shows a 2007 Ford F-150 pulling a travel trailer was northbound on I-95 south of State Road 46 (mile marker 223) in the outside lane.
“For an unknown reason, the driver lost control and overcorrected,” said Lt. Crescenzi. “(The truck) rotated and began overturning and came to final rest on its roof in the inside lane with the trailer overturned onto its right side.”
There were three occupants in the Ford F-150. Lt. Crescenzi said an adult female was pronounced dead at the scene, an 8-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries, and an adult male was not injured remained on the scene.
There is currently roadblock for all northbound lanes of I-95. Traffic is being diverted onto State Road 406 (Garden Street). The crash remains under investigation.
