Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier this morning, I was honored to be a part of our first annual “Serene Harbor Pinwheels For Prevention” event to promote Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
While we do this every April for “Child Abuse Prevention Month” with our friends from the Children’s Advocacy Center, the team from Serene Harbor started a new tradition today with purple pinwheels to not only bring awareness to Domestic Violence, but to also show support for the victim’s as well.
Myself, Chief Singleton of our Criminal Investigative Services, President Beverly DeMeyer and Leah Nepo from Serene Harbor, along with our dedicated Agents and investigative personnel, planted purple pinwheels in front of our Investigations building in Rockledge to help spread the word of this national campaign, which originated in 1989, with the mission of eradicating domestic violence and being a voice to survivors everywhere.

While this one month is dedicated to honoring victims and bringing awareness, the incredible team members of Serene Harbor, along with our Agents and other agencies work tirelessly each and every day of the year to provide a safe space, counseling, advocates, and so much more to the victims of Domestic Violence.
I could not be more proud of the work they do in our community to keep all victims, their children, and even their pets, safe from their abusers.
Please join me in thanking them for their hard work and dedication to this profession and wear purple this month to show your support.
