BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA – It’s that time of year for holiday entertainment of all varieties and styles! Suntree United Methodist Church will host multiple Brevard musical groups to celebrate the Christmas season, when they present two free performances of a Suntree Community Christmas Concert at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on December 8.
The church at 7400 North Wickham Road in Suntree will welcome a quartet from the Brevard Symphony Orchestra in a program of Christmas-themed music.
The Central Florida Winds will be represented with a brass ensemble playing favorites of the season and Eastern Florida State College will contribute a jazz trio. Members of the Brevard Community Chorus will join the SUMC Chancel Choir to sing an arrangement of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
Also raising their voices in song will be the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir from Palm Bay. And always an audience favorite, the Glory Ringers Handbell Choir will let ring out the clear, joyous sounds of Christmas.
Interspersed throughout the 75-minute program are scenes from an original play by the church’s drama group. Even a local comedian will be on hand! Donations will be accepted at the free concert for ZOE Empowers, an organization providing opportunities for impoverished orphans in Africa and India.
Doors open one hour before each performance and the public is encouraged to arrive early for best seating.
Pastor of Worship Arts and the organizer of the Suntree Community Christmas Concert at Suntree United Methodist Church, Mike Mayes looks forward to welcoming the community for a program that embodies the Christmas spirit.
“Our annual event is growing and includes even more performing groups this year,” said Reverend Mayes. “Get ready for a diverse concert that will showcase the arts and gladden the hearts of everyone who experiences it.”
Suntree United Methodist Church is the site of frequent musical performances by groups from the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Central Florida Winds, Space Coast Flute Orchestra, Melbourne Municipal Band and more.
