Laura Negi Named Brevard Public Schools 2025 Teacher of the Year at Annual ABC Awards

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools proudly honored Laura Negi, a third-grade teacher at Sabal Elementary School, as the 2025 Teacher of the Year at the 14th Annual ABC (Applauding Brevard’s Champions) Awards Teacher of the Year Gala.

Sponsored by Community Credit Union Florida and hosted by Brevard Schools Foundation, the event took place at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral.

Brevard Public Schools proudly honored Laura Negi, a third-grade teacher at Sabal Elementary School, as the 2025 Teacher of the Year at the 14th Annual ABC (Applauding Brevard’s Champions) Awards Teacher of the Year Gala.

A Journey of Dedication and Inspiration

Laura’s deep-rooted connection to Brevard Public Schools began as a student at Sabal Elementary, Johnson Middle, and Eau Gallie High School. After serving in the Peace Corps in Mongolia and teaching in India, she returned to Sabal Elementary to give back to the community that shaped her.

“Laura’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of public education,” said Paige Trosset, Principal of Sabal Elementary. “Her commitment to our students and school community is truly unmatched.”

A Classroom Full of Passion and Purpose

Laura’s classroom is a vibrant and nurturing space where every student is encouraged to thrive. “My students are my family,” said Negi. “This honor reflects the love and passion I bring to teaching and the incredible support from my Sabal community.”

Celebrating an Inspirational Educator

Janice Kershaw, President and CEO of Brevard Schools Foundation, emphasized the impact of educators like Laura:

Looking Ahead

As Brevard’s 2025 Teacher of the Year, Laura will now represent Brevard Public Schools in the Florida Teacher of the Year competition.
