Man’s Body Discovered Under State Road 520 Bridge in Merritt Island, Cause of Death Under Investigation

BCSO: no apparent signs of trauma

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man’s body was found Monday in the waters beneath the State Road 520 bridge.

Deputies were called to the area after reports of a body floating near the bridge, and multiple law enforcement units gathered along the shoreline as the investigation got underway.

A preliminary review of the body revealed no apparent signs of trauma, according to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Officials said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities have not released the man’s name, pending notification of relatives.
