The City of Palm Bay has announced the launch of the Planning Matters Workshop Series, a 14 month public education initiative designed to deepen community understanding of how the city grows, develops and plans for the future. The program begins January 21, 2026, and will continue on the third Wednesday of each month through early 2027.

Participants can expect to explore a range of topics, including land use, zoning, mapping, site planning, public input processes, code enforcement, low-impact development, and the distinctions between legislative and quasi-judicial roles in local government.

Additional sessions will focus on legal obligations, ethical considerations, and the tools used to guide economic development and infrastructure planning.

City officials say the series is intended to enhance transparency, support informed public participation, and strengthen collaboration between residents and city departments.

Growth Management Director Althea Jefferson described the initiative as an essential opportunity for the community to understand how Palm Bay’s planning processes shape everyday life and long-term development.

She noted that requiring registration helps ensure participants receive materials and have an opportunity to engage with presenters fully.
The Planning Matters Workshop Series is open to the public. More information and registration are available on the City of Palm Bay website.
