TRAFFIC ALERT: Overnight Ramp Closures at Pineda Causeway and U.S. 1 Begin Sunday in Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Motorists traveling through the busy intersection of Pineda Causeway (State Road 404) and U.S. 1 (State Road 5) should prepare for a series of overnight ramp closures beginning Sunday, February 22.

According to Florida Department of Transportation Central Florida, the temporary closures will take place nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday, February 26.

The final ramp is scheduled to reopen Friday morning, February 27.

The overnight closures are necessary to complete paving operations as part of FDOT’s ongoing Pineda Causeway resurfacing project aimed at improving driving conditions and extending the life of the roadway.

Overnight Closure Schedule:

Sunday (Feb. 22): Westbound Pineda Causeway ➡ Northbound U.S. 1 ramp closed

Monday (Feb. 23): Westbound Pineda Causeway ➡ Southbound U.S. 1 ramp closed

Tuesday (Feb. 24): Northbound & Southbound U.S. 1 ➡ Westbound Pineda Causeway ramps closed

Wednesday (Feb. 25): Southbound U.S. 1 ➡ Eastbound Pineda Causeway ramp closed

Thursday (Feb. 26): Northbound U.S. 1 ➡ Eastbound Pineda Causeway ramp closed

Detours will be clearly marked, directing drivers to use Wickham Road and South Tropical Trail as alternate routes.

Drivers traveling through the area overnight are encouraged to follow posted signage, reduce speed in work zones, and allow extra travel time. FDOT reminds motorists to remain alert for construction crews and equipment while work is underway.
