BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Former NFL player and Brevard County native Javian Hawkins has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of arson after investigators say he intentionally set fire to several vehicles at his former workplace in West Melbourne.
Hawkins, 26, a former standout at Cocoa High School who later played for the Los Angeles Rams during the team’s Super Bowl LVI season, appeared before a Brevard County judge on Friday following his arrest.
According to investigators, the fire occurred outside a lawn care business in West Melbourne, where three pickup trucks were engulfed in flames.
Authorities said the blaze also spread to the exterior of the company’s building, causing additional damage.
Police said the investigation led detectives to Hawkins through surveillance footage and witness statements.
However, officials have not publicly released the surveillance video.
Hawkins is currently facing multiple arson charges and remains in custody on a $280,000 bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for early August.
