Nine Athletics Programs at Eastern Florida State College Recognized as NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year

The softball program had a historic year that concluded with being among the top teams academically. As a team, they posted a 3.46 GPA in the classroom as Hannah Davis and Martha Jones made the first team with a 4.0 GPA. It is the second straight year that Jones has made the first team.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Nine Eastern Florida State College athletics programs were recognized as 2025-26 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year.

Five of the nine teams recognized also played in a national tournament this past season.

The women’s golf team had the highest grade point average this season for Eastern Florida State College, posting a 3.55 team GPA. Freshman Blair Powers had a 4.0 GPA and made the first team. The Titans finished with the 20th-highest GPA in the nation in women’s golf and also placed sixth overall in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

The Titans were led by Jacopo Caprile, Aidan McAteer, Ismail Mukalazi, Louis Munn, Shuto Sano and Alvin Ssekamate, who all had a 4.0 GPA. The Titans also made the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the third straight season.

The men’s soccer team posted a team GPA of 3.36, marking the third straight year the program has been recognized among the top academic programs in the country.

The men’s tennis team had a team GPA of 3.30 as Johan Mottlau made the NJCAA All-Academic second team and teamed with Filip Sormaz to win a national title at No. 2 doubles last fall. The tennis team placed third overall at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

The Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team picked up a victory Friday afternoon in the home opener at Titan Tennis Center.

The men’s golf team posted a 3.13 grade point average this season as the Titans were recognized for the sixth straight season. The team went to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the 25th straight season.

The baseball program was honored for the second straight season as the team posted a 3.35 grade point average.

The women’s basketball team posted a 3.27 grade point average and had two players, Milica Lazarevic and Angela Mirkovic post a 4.0 GPA this season. The Titans have been among the all-academic teams recognized for five straight seasons.

The women’s volleyball team was honored for the fourth straight season as the program posted a GPA of 3.34.

The women’s soccer team had three players with a 4.0 GPA as Rebecca Barros, Maria Jackson and Jenna Moreland all made the first team. The program finished with a 3.30 grade point average.

“Our student-athletes have once again excelled in the classroom,” said Jeff Carr, the Associate Vice President of Athletics. “We are so proud of them and their pursuit of academic excellence! Their work ethic on the field has translated into the classroom! Exceptional student-athletes! They are top in the country!! Well done!”

At least nine teams have been honored in each of the past three seasons.
