WASHINGTON, DC – Florida’s Pam Bondi was sworn in as the U.S. Attorney General at the Justice Department on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Oval Office, where Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas administered the oath, surrounded by family and friends during the event.

Bondi was the Attorney General of Florida from 2010 to 2018.

Following the ceremony, former President Donald Trump praised her, calling her “unbelievably fair and unbelievably good.”

“I know I’m supposed to say she’s going to be totally impartial with respect to Democrats,” Trump told reporters.

“And I think she will be as impartial as a person can be.”

Bondi’s confirmation received bipartisan support, with both Republicans and some Democrats commending her ability to handle complex legal and political matters. More than 110 former Justice Department officials, including past attorneys general and state attorneys general from both parties, endorsed her nomination, citing her experience and nonpartisan approach.

During her confirmation hearing, Bondi repeatedly emphasized her commitment to ensuring that the Justice Department remains free from political bias or misuse of power. “If confirmed,” she assured lawmakers, “partisanship and weaponization within the Justice Department will be eliminated. America will have a single standard of justice for all.”

In 2020, Bondi was one of President Donald Trump’s defense lawyers during his first impeachment trial. On November 21, 2024, President-elect Trump announced she would be nominated for attorney general. She was confirmed in a 54–46 Senate vote on February 4, 2025.
