BOLO: Melbourne Police Seek Escaped Prisoner Eric Jordon Jerry After Assault on Officers and Foot Chase

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Melbourne police are actively searching for a suspect who escaped custody after assaulting officers during a transport to the Brevard County Jail on Tuesday, February 11.
According to Melbourne Police Commander Shawn Eising, officers initially contacted Eric Jordon Jerry, 24, regarding an outstanding arrest warrant.
Jerry was taken into custody without incident and placed in a police vehicle for transport to the Brevard County Jail.
While en route, Jerry told transport officers that he was experiencing a medical issue. As a precaution, officers diverted to Orlando Health, located at 250 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, for evaluation.
Commander Eising said when officers attempted to remove Jerry from the vehicle at the hospital, he battered the officers, somehow managed to remove his handcuffs, and fled on foot.
No officers were reported to have suffered serious injuries during the confrontation.
Officers immediately pursued Jerry into a wooded area south of the hospital.

Additional law enforcement personnel responded to assist, launching an extensive search that included multiple K-9 units, drone teams, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit.
Despite the exhaustive efforts, authorities were unable to locate the suspect.
Jerry remains at large and is described as a Black male, born on April 10, 2001, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He is a resident of Melbourne.
As a result of the incident, Jerry now faces additional charges, including Escape, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting with Violence, and Resisting without Violence.
