BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – A portion of Minton Road will be temporarily closed Thursday morning as Brevard County law enforcement agencies participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Florida.

According to organizers, Minton Road will be shut down between Malabar Road and Jupiter Boulevard from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. on March 26.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during that time frame.

The event is part of a statewide effort to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Law enforcement officers from agencies across Brevard County are expected to take part in the run, which also aims to bring the community together in support of the cause.

Participants and spectators are invited to attend.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Sacrifice Park, located between Palm Bay City Hall and the DeGroodt Library.

Officials encourage the public to come out and show support for the athletes and the mission of Special Olympics Florida while also being mindful of traffic impacts in the area.
