Merritt Island Driver Perishes In Volusia County Accident

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Merritt Island man was killed Sunday night in an automobile accident while dri8ving on Interstate 95 in Volusia County.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said Donald Edwin Moore of Merritt Island, 79, was traveling south on I-95 about 9 p.m. Sunday near State Road 442 when his 2003 Chevy Tahoe drifted to the left and struck the the median.

Montes said the vehicle overturned and began to roll side over side.

Moore, who was wearing a seat belt, died as a result of the crash at the scene.

Alcohol is not suspected as a cause of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Montes.
