BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A 19-year-old Cocoa man was killed Tuesday evening in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Clearlake Road and Fay Street in Cocoa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending further notification.

The crash occurred around 5:13 p.m. at the intersection of Clearlake Road and Fay Street, where FHP Troopers say the collision involved a sport utility vehicle, a motorcycle, and a sedan.

According to FHP investigators, a 2019 Honda HR-V driven by a 39-year-old Rockledge woman was traveling northbound on Clearlake Road in the center left-turn lane approaching Fay Street.

At the same time, a 2005 Buell XB9R motorcycle, operated by the 19-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Clearlake Road.

A 2005 Toyota Camry, driven by a 24-year-old Cocoa woman, was stopped at a stop sign on Fay Street facing eastbound at the intersection.

FHP reports the SUV attempted to make a left turn onto Fay Street, entering the direct path of the oncoming motorcycle.

A FHP spokesperson said the motorcycle’s front struck the SUV’s right side, redirecting the rider southwest into the intersection, where the motorcycle then collided with the front of the stopped sedan.

“The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” said the FHP spokesperson. “His next of kin has been notified.”

The SUV driver and her 1-year-old passenger, as well as the sedan driver and her 2-year-old passenger, were not injured and remained at the scene.

All occupants in the SUV and sedan were wearing seatbelts or proper child restraints, according to FHP.

The crash remains under investigation, with assistance from FHP homicide investigators.
