Wakefield To Be Enshrined In Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After 19 years in the majors, the last 17 with the Boston Red Sox, knuckleballer and Brevard County native, Tim Wakefield announced his retirement.

“This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, so it’s with a heavy heart that I stand here today,” Wakefield said during his emotional retirement speech at Fenwark Park.

“And I’m saddened to say that I have decided to retire from this wonderful game of baseball.”

WAKEFIELD TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE SPACE COAST SPORTS HALL OF FAME

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA —  The inaugural class of the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame was announced as 26 inductees will be enshrined at the first annual ceremony set for May 11 at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.

For more than a century, athletes from Brevard have been considered among the finest in America and now their accomplishments will be honored and memorialized with the creation of the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
