BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Thursday, the NCAA Swimming Championship qualifier list was released and for the first time ever Florida Tech will be represented.
Women’s swimmer Dar Raz and men’s swimmer Nir Barnea will both take part in the championship, scheduled to take place March 11-14 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
“Dar and Nir are incredible student-athletes that represent everything we do as a program,” said head coach Justin Andrade.
“They work hard in the classroom, support their teammates, and are great people. They deserve it and we are so proud of them.”
Raz set her qualifying time at the Sunshine State Conference Championship, where she notched FIT’s first-ever SSC gold medal with a school-record time of 55.36, 12th fastest in all of Division II.
Barnea also set his qualifying time at the SSC Championship, coming in fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. Barnea’s school-record time of 20.26 was the 15th fastest in Division II.
The Panthers wrapped up the SSC Championship last weekend with an excellent performance.
Over the course of the four-day competition, FIT set 22 school-records, including 16 new best times for the Panther men.
