Criminal Investigation Underway Into Missing Checks and Cash That Should Be Accounted For As Deposits Into Local Bank

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department, in conjunction with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit, is conducting a criminal investigation into missing checks and cash that should be accounted for as deposits into a local bank from an employee or employees of the City Finance Department.

TITUSVILLE-BREAKING-180-19According to Titusville Police Commander Todd Hutchinson, the investigation began after city officials contacted TPD in February, and they have a detective assigned full-time to the county-wide Economic Crimes Task Force which specializes in this type of investigation.

The value of the missing items is over $1,000, according to police.

An administrative investigation is also underway, separate from the criminal case.

According to police, because this is an active investigation, no further details will be released at this time and the results of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion.
