Women’s Soccer, Volleyball Share EFSC Student-Athlete Recognition

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Women’s soccer players Paula Astiazaran and Julia Hernandez and volleyball player Juliana Torres are Eastern Florida State College’s Student-Athletes of the Week.

Astiazaran, a freshman from San Sebastian, Spain, scored nine goals and recorded six assists in three games, setting the school single-season scoring record in the process with her 14th goal.

She finished the week with 18 goals and 13 assists for the season for a team-high 49 points. She ranks eighth nationally in goals and fourth in points.

Hernandez, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, scored six goals and recorded four assists in three games. She has 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points.

Eastern Florida is 9-0 and ranked No. 1 in both national polls.

Torres, a sophomore from Joinville, Brazil, finished the week with 25 kills in three matches. She also recorded eight assisted blocks, three solo blocks and three services aces in two weekend matches
