TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – On March 7, Governor Rick Scott signed HB 7101 into law.

HB 7101 – Sentencing for Capital Felonies – makes various changes to Florida’s death penalty law.

“It is my solemn duty to uphold the laws of Florida and my foremost concern is always for the victims and their loved ones,” said Gov. Scott.

“I hope this legislation will allow families of these horrific crimes to get the closure they deserve.”

This legislation was supported by the Florida Sheriffs Association, the Florida Public Defender Association and the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association.
