Richard Thomas Moore of Merritt Island Killed In Motorcycle Crash Tuesday Afternoon

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Richard Thomas Moore, 51, of Merritt Island was killed Tuesday afternoon about 4:40 p.m. when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle driven by 72-year old Maureen Tavaglione, also of Merritt Island.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Tavaglione was traveling southbound on Courtenay Parkway as Moore was traveling northbound on Courtenay Parkway.
According to FHP, Tavaglione, who was driving a 2012 Dodge SUV, attempted to make a left turn into a business parking lot at Courtenay Parkway and Duval Street, and turned into the direct path of Moore, who was riding a 2015 Honda motorcycle.
The front of the Dodge SUV struck the right side of the motorcycle. Moore was not wearing a helmet.
An unidentified male passenger in the Dodge SUV was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital with minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to FHP.
