The Denver Botanical Gardens had some April Fools floral fun on Friday when it posted the above photo on its website and Facebook page.

“We just noticed a strange-looking specimen in the Tropical Conservatory,” the Facebook post stated. “We never experienced an overnight pop-up a of new species before. So weird!

“Anyone have an idea of what this plant might be? We are perplexed.”

One comment may have nailed it: “Looks like a rare Audrey II to me. Make sure you keep it fed.”

Of course, the faux plant is a replica from the stage and screen productions of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

The gardens’ Facebook post received more than 2.6 million likes.
