BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 19th annual Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival, set for Oct. 20-21 at Premiere Theaters Oaks Stadium 10, has announced its film selections for 2017 and a special guest – Brian O’Halloran, star of the groundbreaking indie hit “Clerks.”

O’Halloran will honored with the Indie Pioneer Award, and festival goers will be able to see the new “biography comedy” “Shooting Clerks.”

Each year the festival receives hundreds of entries and selects some of the finest independent films for our enthusiastic community.

The MIFF will be partnering with Amazon television show “Real Food Real Kitchens” to celebrate their third season and its theme, showcasing New York cooking and cuisine. In fact, the theme of this year’s festival is “New York, New York,” which will be celebrated in food and films.

Short films are exciting calling cards for directors and are innovative ways to tell stories. The Saturday morning Florida Filmmakers Matinee is a great way to see local talent on the big screen as well as a chance for interested people to meet local creators.

Other programs include comedy, horror/sci-fi and, of course, the VIP red carpet awards program Saturday night. At the after-party, artists network in a fun, friendly environment.

All of the funds raised by the film festival go to charity. This year’s funds help support No Limits Academy, a private school for the profoundly disabled.
