WATCH: Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Law Enforcement Appreciation Parade and Battle of the Badges

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Team TAKES CUPCAKE CHAMPIONSHIP
SPACE COAST DAILY TV: Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey leads the Law Enforcement Appreciation Parade from Viera High School at 9 a.m. The “Battle of the Badges” starts at 12 noon at the Government Center in Viera. Among the sponsors is Health First’s Viera Hospital.
BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office hosted the 1st Annual “Law Enforcement Appreciation Parade” and “Battle of the Badges” Saturday in concert with National Law Enforcement and Corrections Appreciation Week.
The parade that traveled through the Viera community was a showcase of agency members and resources from the various Law Enforcement Agencies and Fire Rescue Components throughout Brevard County, as well as various businesses and supporters of our teams who wanted to show their support for our community’s First Responders.
Once the parade ended everyone gathered together for the “Battle of the Badges” that pitted the various agencies and units against one another to try and earn the coveted title of Battle of the Badges Champion in the BBQ Challenge, the Chili Cook-off, and the incredible Cupcake Challenge.

While all of the competitive teams served up some great food the following teams took home awards in the three different categories:
CUPCAKE DIVISION:
1st Place – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Team
2nd Place – Space Coast Motorcycle Alliance
3rd Place – Brevard County Clerk Of Courts
People’s Choice Winner: Brevard County Fire Rescue
BARBEQUE DIVISON:
1st Place – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Unit
2nd Place – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Ag/Marine Unit
3rd Place – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Court Services Team
People’s Choice Award Winner: Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Ag Marine Unit

CHILLI DIVISION:
1st Place – Brevard County Fire Rescue
2nd Place – Brevard County Sheriffs Office School Security Team
3rd Place – Community Champions
People’s Choice Award Winner: Space Coast Motorcycle Alliance
I would like to personally thank AJ Hiers of Boniface Hiers for being our Grand Marshall in the parade for all he does to support Law Enforcement and homeless pets in our community.
I would like to also thank County Commissioner Curt Smith, Melbourne Mayor Kathy Mehan, Melbourne City Council Member Tim Thomas, Council Member Paul Alfrey, and Mayor Carol McCormick of Palm Shores for joining us today to show their incredible support for First Responders throughout Brevard County.
And of course a very special thank you to all of our First Responders who participated and attended today’s event and to our citizens who show us each and every day how much they love us. Your support means the world to us and we truly can’t thank you enough.
