Florida Tech Women’s Soccer Preseason Ranked No. 4 in SSC Coaches Poll

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Coming off of their first Sunshine State Conference tournament championship, the women’s soccer team has been tabbed to finish tied for fourth with Tampa in the league’s 2018 preseason coaches poll.

Florida Tech came in with a total of 64 points with one first-place vote.

The Panthers finished last season with a 9-8-3 overall record and tallied a 4-5-1 conference record before hitting their stride in the SSC tournament where they took out Florida Southern, Barry and Tampa to be crowned champions. The team received the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, where they fell to Lee in the first round.

The Crimson and Gray will open its season with six nonconference matches before inviting Palm Beach Atlantic to Rick Stottler field on Sept. 15. The team will also play host to Saint Leo, Florida Southern, Barry and Lynn.

Florida Tech will endure a tough conference road schedule as it heads off to face Eckerd, No. 23 Nova Southeastern, Embry-Riddle, Tampa and Rollins.

The Panthers will open up their season Friday, Aug. 31, when they head to Columbus, Georgia to take on the Falcons of Montevallo. This match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex.
