Brevard Public Schools Appoints Cindy Lesinski New Chief Financial Officer

Brevard Public Schools announced the appointment of Cindy Lesinski, above, as the new Chief Financial Officer for the district. Lesinski was selected following several rounds of interviews and research by the district and will replace Pennie Zuercher who resigned in October of 2019 after serving Brevard Public Schools for the past three years.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools announced the appointment of Cindy Lesinski as the new Chief Financial Officer for the district.

Lesinski was selected following several rounds of interviews and research by the district and will replace Pennie Zuercher who resigned in October of 2019 after serving Brevard Public Schools for the past three years.

As CFO, Lesinski will oversee several departments including employee benefits and risk management, accounting services, budgeting, cost accounting and FTE, along with quality control.

She is a proud veteran and has served as the CFO for the Air Force Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, as well as holding several other financial leadership positions in the United States military.

Lesinski carries a strong reputation as a servant leader who focuses on innovative problem solving and impeccable customer service.

“Her experience managing complex budgets will be an asset to Brevard Public Schools,” Superintendent Mark Mullins said.

“She comes to Brevard with excellent references and a distinguished military career that includes formal CFO experience and management of operations.”

Lesinski is also a cohort with The Broad Academy, the nation’s most prominent professional-development program for current and aspiring urban school-system leaders.

Lesinski embodies the spirit of community connection with her personal leadership style and her passion for being involved in outreach and volunteer opportunities that directly impact children’s welfare such as Big Brother/Big Sister and serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

When asked what she is most excited about in her new position with Brevard Public Schools, Lesinski said

“I love the ability to serve the families and community members in Brevard County and be a part of ensuring all students have access to an equitable, high-quality education.”

Lesinski received her bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida, her master’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of West Florida and her master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from Eisenhower School for National Security.
