BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police officials announced the passing of retired chief of police Jim Rogers on Monday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Retired Palm Bay Chief of Police Jim Rogers,” said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.

“Chief Rogers served the Palm Bay Police Department honorably and faithfully for over 30 years, serving his last two years as police chief until his retirement in 2019. Chief Rogers’ leadership, professionalism, and compassion for others were certainly felt by everyone who knew him.

“He was a mentor to many of us here at the police department and will truly be missed.”

Chief Rogers was also instrumental in developing positive relationships within our community through outreach programs and building trust between our agency and the public.

“We ask that you please keep his family and the members of the Palm Bay Police Department in thoughts and prayers,”said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.
