Palm Bay Police Promotes Department Veteran Nicholas Szczepanski to Deputy Chief

The Palm Bay Police Department has announced the promotion of Nicholas Szczepanski to Deputy Chief of Police. Throughout his career with the department, Szczepanski has served in several roles, including patrol officer, patrol corporal, special operations officer, and special investigations agent.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — The Palm Bay Police Department has announced the promotion of Nicholas Szczepanski to Deputy Chief of Police.

Deputy Chief Szczepanski was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, and attended the police academy at Florida State College in Jacksonville before beginning his career with the Palm Bay Police Department in 2009.

Throughout his career with the department, Szczepanski has served in several roles, including patrol officer, patrol corporal, special operations officer, and special investigations agent.

In 2019, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Special Investigations Unit.

He later earned a promotion to Lieutenant in 2022, serving as a patrol watch commander before becoming Administrative Lieutenant in the Uniform Services Division.

In 2024, Szczepanski was promoted to Commander and assigned to the department’s Community Services Division. He now serves as Deputy Chief of Police.

In addition to his leadership roles within the department, Szczepanski previously served on the Fraternal Order of Police Executive Board as the Officer Representative and was named Officer of the Year in 2014.

Deputy Chief Szczepanski is also a recipient of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Series award and is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Police, Session 90.

He holds a Master of Science in Justice Administration and a PhD in Leadership Studies.

The Palm Bay Police Department congratulated Deputy Chief Szczepanski on his promotion and continued service to the community.
