Three Eastern Florida State Women’s Basketball Players Named to FCSAA Region VIII All-State Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team had three players named to the FCSAA Region VIII All-State team on Thursday night.

Guards Kaitlyn Sanders and Shadaria Smith as well as forward Rapuluchi Ngorka were all honored during the quarterfinals of the state tournament at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.

The three players are a program record for players making the all-state team in a season.

Smith, a freshman guard from Orlando, averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists this season. Smith made 59 3-pointers this season and scored 354 points for the Titans.

Sanders, a freshman guard from Miami, averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game this season. In two seasons, Sanders has scored 390 points with 107 assists and 107 rebounds, and 63 steals.

The guard has hit seven 3-pointers in a game three times this season.

Ngorka, a freshman forward from Madrid, Spain, averaged a double-double this season with 13.9 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. Her 358 rebounds and the 13.3 rebounds per game both lead Region VIII. (EFSC image)

The 13.3 rebounds per game are fourth in the nation and she is third in the nation in total offensive rebounds with 161.

Ngorka has recorded 16 double-doubles this season which is second-best in program history, just three behind Trudy Walker.

Eastern Florida State College is now 26-3 on the season and will play Indian River State College in the state tournament semifinals Friday evening. Click here to read about the win.
