BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With extreme sadness, we announce the passing of Michael “Mikey” Cohen, age 32. His warm presence that made everyone feel at home will be missed by so many.

Michael was born on February 4, 1990, in Bronx, NY, to Dennis and Wilma Cohen. He was raised in Melbourne Beach, Florida, where his love for the outdoors began.

In 2008, he was awarded his Eagle Scout recognition after many years of dedication. Michael graduated from Melbourne High School in 2008 and continued his education at Indian River State College, studying Golf Course Operations.

Michael was an adoring fisherman who started a business designing and creating custom fishing rods and lures.

Michael truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with family and friends, watching sunrises and sunsets over the Sebastian Inlet, surfing, and fishing.

His love for the outdoors and nature was deeply tied to his passion for adventure. Michael was passionate about snook fishing and honing the craft of the sport, which was displayed by the many photos he captured of his catches. If Michael was not spending time with his son or working, you would often find him at his favorite place in the world, Sebastian Inlet.

He was a devoted father who treasured spending time with his beautiful son. Michael was always supporting his son at sports games and spending time together. Michael was known for his infectious personality, warm smile, compassionate heart, witty sense of humor, and free spirit.

He had a unique ability to connect with people and encourage them deeply and profoundly.

Michael is survived by his father, Dennis, his mother, Wilma, his sister Marissa, and his son, Camden.

“A Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Sebastian Beach State Park at noon (14100 Florida A1A, Vero Beach, FL 32963). We will gather together to share memories, to laugh, and to cry, and to remember “our Mikey,” who is greatly missed by all who knew him.
