BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team will open the Fall season on Monday at the Dan York Memorial Tournament at Cross Creek Golf Course in Alabama.
The Titans, who begin the season No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I preseason coaches poll, have a good mix of freshman and sophomores this season with Adam Vermut, Nicholas Miller, and Bryan Hernandez returning this season.
“It has been a rough week of qualifying, There seems to be a lot on their plate right now, fourth week of classes, and we are off with the storm for a couple of days, It has just been really busy and we have to calm down a bit,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.
Vermut and Miller both played in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament last season as freshmen and will look to lead the team this season.
“Adam Vermut is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year, Newcomer Mason McKain qualified right away for the first tournament, but the sophomores have to step up and the freshmen to just get comfortable,” Howell said.
The team opens at the Dan York Memorial Tournament hosted by Wallace State who is No. 15 in the preseason poll.
“A lot of good memories for me there, my first college tournament with Brevard Community College, and coach York was an incredibly close friend, it is a trip down memory lane for me and a really good tournament to start the fall season,” Howell said.
The tournament begins Monday with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
