FHP: Bicyclist Killed Friday Night On U.S. 1 in Titusville After Being Struck By Car

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were on the scene of a fatal crash involving a 20-year-old Palm Bay man who was struck and killed Friday at 11:30 p.m. when a Toyota Camry hit the bike he was riding in the northbound inside lane of U.S. 1, south of the Columbia Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Toyota Camry was driven by a 21-year-old Satellite Beach man.
“The bicyclist was not equipped with any front or rear-facing illumination devices, and the driver advised he could not see the bicyclist traveling ahead,” said a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson.
“As a result, the front left of the Toyota struck the bike.”
The driver was transported to Parish Medical Center with minor injuries.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
