Brevard Students Shine at EnergyWhiz 2025 at UCF, Viera Elementary Awarded Best in Show

Viera Elementary WINS first place in Energy Inspired Art, was also awarded Best in Show

Brevard students made a big impact at EnergyWhiz 2025, a statewide celebration of clean energy innovation hosted by the University of Central Florida’s FSEC Research Center. Nearly 400 K–12 students across Florida participated in challenges like solar racing, solar cooking, energy-inspired art, and engineering design.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Brevard students made a big impact at EnergyWhiz 2025, a statewide celebration of clean energy innovation hosted by the University of Central Florida’s FSEC Research Center.

Nearly 400 K–12 students across Florida participated in challenges like solar racing, solar cooking, energy-inspired art, and engineering design.

Viera Elementary School’s entry, “A Global Warning,” not only won first place in Energy Inspired Art (grades 3–5) but was also awarded Best in Show across all divisions, an incredible achievement that showcased creativity, environmental awareness, and artistic excellence.

Other BPS First-Place Highlights Include:

Palm Bay Magnet HS’s Team Jacob claimed 1st place in Solar Sprint
John F. Kennedy Middle School’s Energy Empresses earned 1st place and the Precision Award, Energy Transfer Machine (Grades 6–8)
Suntree Elementary School’s Flying Lizards won 1st with their creative “Leaping Lizard Cottage”
Lockmar Elementary’s Knights Hotel received the WOW! Award for outstanding effort both in Critter Comfort Cottage (Elementary)

In total, 14 Brevard teams medaled, placing first through third, with additional teams receiving special awards, showing strong talent and dedication across the district.

Brevard’s students continue to lead the way with bold ideas, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving. We’re proud of every team that represented our district.
