ST. GEORGE, Utah — Federal investigators say the transgender romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, is assisting authorities in the ongoing investigation.
According to senior FBI officials, Robinson lived with a transgender partner in an apartment in St. George, Utah.
Investigators emphasized that the partner, who has not been publicly identified, is not accused of any wrongdoing and has been “extremely cooperative” throughout the probe.
Authorities said the individual had no knowledge of Robinson’s alleged plan to target Kirk during his September 10 appearance at Utah Valley University in Orem, where the Turning Point USA founder was fatally shot.
Forensic teams searched the apartment Robinson shared with his partner, seizing computers and other evidence now being analyzed at the FBI’s Quantico facility. Officials confirmed that text messages and other communications between Robinson and the partner played a role in locating the suspect.

Robinson’s capture followed a 33-hour manhunt that ended after his father recognized him in surveillance images released by the FBI. Sources say Robinson went to his parents’ home after the shooting and expressed suicidal thoughts before being turned over to law enforcement.
Investigators also recovered a rifle believed to have been used in the attack. Ammunition found with the weapon carried anti-fascist inscriptions, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed at a Friday news briefing.
Kirk, 31, was killed while addressing students at the university. Officials believe a single shot was fired from a rooftop about 200 yards away. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
Robinson is expected to face both state and federal charges, and prosecutors have indicated the death penalty is under consideration. The FBI has not said whether Robinson’s partner could eventually face any charges.
“The FBI is reviewing every lead, every connection, and every group tied to this case,” an agency spokesperson said. “Anyone involved, anywhere in the world, will be brought to justice.”
