OBITUARY: Jack Lee Hilderbrand Passes Away at 86, Dedicated 50 Years of Service to Kennedy Space Center

Jack Lee “Supr Jack” Hilderbrand, 86, of Mims, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Known fondly as the “Jack of all trades,” he was respected for his versatility, reliability, and strong work ethic. Jack dedicated an extraordinary 50 years of service to the Kennedy Space Center, where he contributed during the historic Apollo 11 era, worked on the causeways, and served as a security officer.

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – Jack Lee “Supr Jack” Hilderbrand, 86, of Mims, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Jack was born in Madison, West Virginia, and proudly joined the United States Army immediately after graduating high school. His honorable military service reflected his lifelong commitment to duty, discipline, and service to his country. Following his service, he moved to Florida in 1960, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

A devoted Christian, Jack lived a life marked by integrity, service, and fellowship. He was a proud and active Master Mason and Shriner for more than 50 years, embodying the principles of brotherhood, charity, and service that defined both organizations. His Masonic dedication was a source of great pride and a testament to his character.

Known fondly as the “Jack of all trades,” he was respected for his versatility, reliability, and strong work ethic. Jack dedicated an extraordinary 50 years of service to the Kennedy Space Center, where he contributed during the historic Apollo 11 era, worked on the causeways, and served as a security officer.

He also brought five years of specialized experience on the SWAT team, helping ensure the safety and security of one of the nation’s most significant space exploration facilities. His career at Kennedy Space Center stands as a lasting legacy of loyalty, professionalism, and pride in America’s space program.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed bowling, watching football and UFC, and above all, spending cherished time with his family, whom he loved deeply.

Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Lee Stiles; his son, Chris Hilderbrand; his father, Ora Bernal Hilderbrand; his mother, Dorothy Mae Stone (Hilderbrand); his sister, Dorothy Carol Gurr; his brother, Donald “Donnie” Hilderbrand; his sister-in-law, Lillian Hilderbrand; his nephews, Dean Gurr and Greg Hilderbrand and his great-nephew, Zachary Hilderbrand. Grandchild, Mckenzie Hilderbrand and Great grandchild Delaney Meeks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Bobbie Hilderbrand; his daughter, Michelle Garcia; his daughter-in-law, Kim Hilderbrand; and his stepchildren, Michelle McLane, Nina Kemp, Brandy McLane, and Jessica Hyatt. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Kyle, Tristin, Karlie, Anthony, Christie, Erin, Dylan, Josh, Pierce, Preston, Justice, Jacob, Austin, Jesse, and William, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Military, Masonic, and Kennedy Space Center honors may be rendered at the memorial service, which will be held at a later date.
