BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A 66-year-old Melbourne woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Main Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. on March 11 in Brevard County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2021 Kia Seltos eastbound on Main Street as she approached the intersection with U.S. 1.

At the same time, a 65-year-old Malabar man driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 in the inside lane approaching the intersection.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a third vehicle — a 2019 Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old woman from Vero Beach — was in the northbound left-turn lane on U.S. 1 and was in the process of making a U-turn.

FHP Troopers said the Melbourne woman attempted to make a left turn from Main Street onto northbound U.S. 1 and entered the direct path of the southbound pickup truck.

The front of the Dodge Ram struck the left side of the Kia Seltos. The impact caused the pickup truck to rotate and collide with the Honda Civic, which was turning at the intersection.
