U.S. Coast Guard officials say 11 people are now confirmed to have been aboard an aircraft that crashed approximately 80 miles off the coast of Melbourne, updating an earlier report that stated 10 people were on board.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – U.S. Coast Guard officials say 11 people are now confirmed to have been aboard an aircraft that crashed approximately 80 miles off the coast of Melbourne, updating an earlier report that stated 10 people were on board.

The Coast Guard launched a C-27 aircraft to assist in the search and rescue response after receiving reports of the crash offshore.

According to officials, all 11 individuals have been accounted for and are being transported to emergency medical services for further evaluation.

Authorities have not yet released details about the aircraft involved, the condition of those rescued, or what may have caused the crash.
