BCC Basketball’s Gaskins Invited to High Profile Camp

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA —  Brevard Community College basketball player Gary Gaskins has been invited to the Jerry Mullen JuCo Top 100 Camp, the most prestigious, invitation-only junior college showcase in the nation.

In addition to the athletes the event will attract more than 300 NCAA Division I and Division II coaches to St. Louis this coming Saturday and Sunday.

BCC head coach Jeremy Shulman will also make the trip to watch and support Gaskins.”If he plays well, Gary’s recruitment will skyrocket,” Shulman said.

“It also will be a great opportunity for Gary to compete against the very best post players throughout the nation.”

Gaskins, a 6-foot, 10-inch rising sophomore, has received offers from Division I universities Oklahoma, Florida Atlantic, South Alabama, University of Alabama-Birmingham and Southern Mississippi while Marshall, Marquette, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Wright State and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, among others, have expressed interest, Shulman said.

Gaskins, a power forward from Orlando, came to BCC from the Air Force.

He averaged 5.9 points, six rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game last season while shooting 64.6 percent from the floor.

High School: Gary averaged 12.4 ppg, 10.8 rpg, and 4.3 bpg as a senior at Beaufort HS, before going into the military in 08-09 (Air Force).
