Martha was very involved in the welfare of her community, serving on fund-raising committees for The Brevard Hospital, The Brevard Symphony Guild, and other charities.

She was a founding member and the first president of Melbourne Panhellenic and an active member of the Garden Club by the Sea. She attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for over 50 years.
