BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Bulldogs (17-2) will host the Viera Hawks (7-10) in a Class 7A, District 6 girls basketball game Friday at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs, and first year coach Ariel Wilson, are led by a trio of players scoring in double digits, including Alaisha Spivey (13.7), Mya Jackson (12.2) and Alisha Campbell (10.4).
Coach Wilson’s team has exceeded expectations this year having scored big wins against Titusville, Rockledge, Astronaut and Palm Bay.
And, don’t let the sub .500 record of the Viera Hawks fool you. They are led by one of the most exciting basketball players in central Florida in Miracle Simon.
Simon comes into Friday night’s game averaging 20 ppg and is the leading rebounder for Viera. She poured in 31 points last week against a very good Harmony squad.
The Hawks are not a one man team. Co-captain Maddie Sadowski (leading in assists), Monica Parish (second in rebounding), and co-captain Katie Smith area all valuable members of the Viera Hawks team.
The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson will bring you all of the action with pregame set for 6:50 p.m. and tip-off at 7 p.m.
