Little League Report: Mims, Merritt Island Win in All-Star Baseball Tournament Action

The 8-9-10 Baseball tournament for District 22 continued Saturday at W. W. James Park in Titusville with the Visitors from Indian River City squaring up with the Home team from Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The 8-9-10 Baseball tournament for District 22 continued Saturday at W. W. James Park in Titusville with the Visitors from Indian River City squaring up with the Home team from Merritt Island.

8-9-10 Baseball Tournament: Merritt Island 7, Indian River City 6

Liam Stover started the game off for IRC with a walk and then came around to score on an RBI single by Jackson McRae to put his team up 1-0. Merritt Island came back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Jaxon Plecki started things off with a double and came around to score with Connor Force, who had drawn a walk.

Merritt Island would increase their lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning, when Xavier Barchanowicz reached on a walk and would come around to score on a triple by Laith Taival. Taival would then be brought home on an RBI single by Ethan Wegerif.

The fifth inning would belong to IRC as they would bat through the lineup. Jackson McRae, Van Russell, Miguel Sanchez and Mason Hillard would all reach base to start things off. Liam Michels would drive in a run with an RBI groundout, followed by an RBI single from Charlie O’Connor to tie the game up at 6-6.

The game would stay tied through the sixth inning and venture into the seventh. After holding IRC scoreless in the top of the inning, Merritt Island would score the winning run in the bottom on an RBI single from Connor Force to capture the 7-6 win. The win gives Merritt Island the District 22 Championship for the 8-9-10 Baseball division.

They will advance to the Section 3 tournament in St. Augustine on Saturday, June 26.

The 9-10-11 Baseball tournament will take Sunday off and resume with the last 2 games Monday night.

9-10-11 Baseball Tournament: Mims 13, Port St. John 6

In Port St. John, the 9-10-11 Baseball tournament continued at Space Coast Communities Sports Complex with the visiting team from Mims LL meeting the home team from Port St. John LL.

Mims’ starting pitcher, Noah Donoro, pitched into the 6th inning using 74 pitches while going 3-for-3 with 2 singles & a double, and scored 5 times. Mims’ Dylan Turner, Jaxon Minnear and Ryker Johnson each scored twice. Port St. John’s John Platt went 3-for-3 and scored once while attributing for 4 RBI. But, it was not enough to catch Mims who took the win with a 13-6 score.

9-10-11 Baseball Tournament: Merritt Island 15, Rockledge 5

The second 9-10-11 Baseball game was on Field 2 and saw the visiting Merritt Island All-stars battling the home team from Rockledge. Rockledge’s Kalan McGuigan scored twice. However, Merritt Island’s bats were jumping today as Tyler Fowks scored 3 times and Sebastion Hamilton had a triple in their 8-run 6th inning to lead them to a 15-5 victory.

The 9-10-11 Baseball tournament will take Sunday off and resume with the last 2 games Monday night.
