The Titusville Police Department is currently on scene near the 300 block of Indian River Avenue, conducting a death investigation after receiving a call at approximately 11:58 a.m. regarding a body floating in the Indian River.
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville police officials released information about a body found in the Indian River Lagoon on Thursday, April 9.
The identity of the adult male victim is pending positive identification.
The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting with the identification and will also determine the cause of death of the adult male.
Police say that at approximately 11:58 a.m., the Titusville police responded to the 300 block of Indian River Avenue after receiving a report of a body found floating in the Indian River.
According to a TPD spokesperson, when officers arrived on scene, they located a dead adult male approximately five feet from shore.
Titusville police detectives and forensic investigators from the Investigations Division and the Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on scene to continue the death investigation.
The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting with the identification and will also determine the cause of death of the adult male.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and our detectives are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” said Deputy Chief Tyler ‘TJ’ Wright.
According to a TPD spokesperson, once the adult male is identified, the next of kin will be notified before the identification is released.
