OBITUARY: Cocoa High Grad Vicki Shepard, 71, Passed Away June 3, Retired After Career at Brevard Public Schools

Vicki Shepard, age 71, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. She graduated from Cocoa High School as a member of the Diving Team and the Latin Club, when it was located in Rockledge at the current location of Rockledge High School. She worked with Brevard County Public Schools until her retirement.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Vicki Shepard, age 71, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

She was a lifelong resident of Brevard County and a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cocoa. She graduated from Cocoa High School as a member of the Diving Team and the Latin Club, when it was located in Rockledge at the current location of Rockledge High School.

Vicki was presented as a 1970 Central Brevard Debutante. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of South Florida in Tampa and worked in that capacity with Brevard County Public Schools until her retirement.

Her parents were Walter and Shirley Shepard and her grandparents were John D. and Marilu Shepard, long-time residents of Brevard County. Vicki was a generous supporter of many local charities, including St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Academy, Brevard County Sheriff’s Pet Posse, and Lawndale Historic House Museum.

A special note of appreciation goes to her loving caregiver, Chyna Cain, as well as her long-time friend, Dawn Fearon. Appreciation is also extended to her caretakers from Assisting Hands Home Care and Vitas Healthcare.

Vicki will be missed by family and friends.

Services will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, with visitation at 10:30 a.m., and services following at 11 a.m., at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cocoa. This will be followed by interment in the family plot at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
